【A teaching institute synchronous with European and American Film Academies】
The film and creative industries have an urgent need of talents, especially in the era of digitalization. What distinguishes our department is a set of teaching methods corresponding to the demands of the time: we stimulate creative thinking and we train to develop the cultural values as well as the professional skills required by the film industries. Unlike the traditional film departments, we are focused on the "practical teaching" rather than the theoretical and aesthetical studies. Although we do not neglect the cultural education, students are not oriented to writing a dissertation. The practice constitutes the kernel of our department’s teaching, and the ultimate goal is the integration of film, television, cultural creation and digital technology.
During the midterm and final films exhibition, students’ works are displayed, and we invite industry experts to make evaluations and comments in order to offer students more objective and more practical suggestions.
This mechanism is supposed to allow students to apprehend directly the requirements of the industry, and to implement them into their own creation. At the same time, all the projects and works undergo a process consisting of severe critics and substantial revisions. Thanks to industry experts’ guidance and help, students are able to accelerate their growth.
In addition, from the perspective of the industry, the level of students can also be assessed through external evaluations. Outstanding talents can be discovered directly and they will obtain substantial employment opportunities like joining film crews or companies.

While the nation is eager to discover and construct a "future industry", the spirit of "innovation" in the creative industry has become the main component of the conception. At present, the fifth-type society (Dream Society) has taken shape, which means that industries in the future will be industries in the form of "dream factory." Relatively speaking, the information industry will also be transformed into a dream industry reigned by the digital content. And this dream industry is founded on the “innovative industry” activated by “creativity” and “execution”. In the future, the innovative industry will have the following characteristics:

- It utilizes heavily the digital tools, hardware or software.
- It is activated by the contemporary aesthetics and extraordinary concepts.
- It is guided by the concept of customization.
- It is motivated by the basic human needs (to make people live happier, healthier, and engage in more meaningful activities)
【The teaching goals our department is dedicated to】
Under the framework of the culture and the aesthetics, our department emphasizes the application of story theory and storytelling techniques in the multiple interplatforms of digital media, and incarnates the creativity in an integrated learning realm composed of conception, design, media use, creation, and marketing. The courses include digital content, creative industries, digital movies, cinematography and mobile games.
In consideration of the characteristics and requirements of the film creative industry, our department devotes itself to cultivating the following talents:
1.Producer with both a broad vision and the critical spirit.
2.Creator (Curator) with both artistic sensibility and industrial management/ marketing capacities.
3.Key person (Maven) specialized in coordination in the inter-platform of the creative industries.
4.Professional and technical talent (Expert) in the fields of digital film, animation, multimedia art, etc.
The course planning of our department consists mainly in two modules:

- Culture, Art and Media Creation capacities
- Music and sound production capabilities
- Story creation and script writing capacities
- Digital technology and video production capacities
- Film editing and post-production special effects capacities
- Theatrical performance capacities
